London Fashion Week
London Fashion Week is a fashion show held twice a year in February and September and showcases many talented designers and brands to the world. It is a preview of styles to come and is primarily a trade show for industry professionals who are invited to attend. The general public can attend the Fashion Show Weekend which directly follows Fashion Week. This is the ultimate fashion experience with an opportunity for irresistible shopping from designers of London Fashion Week calibre as well as attending catwalk shows from the cutting-edge designers.
London Fashion Week began in 1984 and was held in the courtyard of Somerset House however from September 2015 the new location will be Brewer Street car park in Soho. This new position puts the show right in the heart of an area that has been the centre of fashion and creativity for many years.
Sunglasses Hut has also been announced as the new major sponsor for the Fashion Week as from September, for the next three years.
There are other fashion shows held in the major cities of New York, Milan and Paris but the London show is considered to be one of the best in the world as the birthplace of talent and creativity.
In 2010 London Fashion Week became a pioneer in technology by live streaming the runways thus allowing access to the show for global audiences. Two popular British brands Burberry and Topshop have also been big supporters of the digital age. Burberry has become recognised as a leader in technology and innovation and was the first luxury brand to live stream a catwalk show to the general public. Topshop has recently combined with Twitter to share emerging fashion trends as they happen straight from catwalks of the London Fashion Show.
